Parts of the Hotel Kobenzl date back to the year 1864. Since its edification the building has been constantly expanded. To the excursion restaurant „Judenbergalm“ lead once only a steep walkway later a chair-lift facilitated the ascension.
With the acquisition of the house through Marianne and Rupert Herzog 1959 the house was re-named into „Kobenzl”. Under the direction of family Herzog the hotel experienced a one of a kind rise.
Marianne and Rupert Herzog have gotten to know and love one another in their birthplace Taxenbach in the Salzburger Pinzgau. Together the „Postwirts- daughter“ and the „Kerschbaum“ mountain farmer – fulfilled a lifelong dream with the sale of the Hotel Kobenzl. The hotel changed into one of the noblest addresses of Salzburg through the feeling for style of its owners. The „who is who” choose only the Hotel Kobenzl in Salzburg. “Haute cuisine” cooks and five-star comfort- for the international guests the best was just good enough.

With all the success that Marianne and Rupert Herzog got to experience, they never forgot their humble start. Magnanimity and honest hospitality are characteristics which have always been traditional characteristics of the family Herzog. Until today a deep relatedness to the guests of the hotel “Kobenzl” is significant and typical for Marianne and Rupert Herzog. Meanwhile they operate the hotel together with their son Peter, the youngest of the three “Kobenzler” The traditional hospitality culture of the family Herzog is carried forth together with his wife Stefanie and their children.
