Salzburg Lake District
The province of Salzburg counts 163 lakes, the biggest and most beautiful are located in the Salzburger Salzkammergut, which can be reached from the Hotel Kobenzl in a few minutes per car. The biggest lake in Salzburg is the Wolfgangsee, which counts just like the Fuschlsee and the Hintersee to the Salzkammergut. The particular speciality of the lakes in Salzburger is the high quality of the water, almost all lakes have water so clean that you could drink it. The numerous public and private lakeside beaches and the lonesome bays offer something for everybody.. Alternatives to swimming are other water activities like sailing, water-skiing, diving, fishing or paddle boating
On the bigger lakes, like on the Wolfgangsee, there are ships which let you explore the beautiful surroundings on the water. The beautiful towns in the Salzburger and Upper Austrian Salzkammergut are always worth a visit. There are numerous cultural sights to be discovered in St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen, Bad Ischl or Gmunden.
North of the city of Salzburg the Wallersee and the three Trumer Seen as well as smaller waters and attractive moors are located. A popular destination are the streams and reservoirs, at which one can refresh after a hike. Challenging white waters are also located in the surroundings of the Hotel Kobenzl. This is the right spot for kayak and rafting-fans.
The outstanding quality of the rivers and lakes in Salzburg is also reflected on the menu of the Vitalhotel Kobenzl. Ruben Hunger and Herbert Ranstl, our chefs de cuisine, like to prepare freshly caught native fishes like brook trout, samlet, whitefish, pike greyling or sheatfish.
